it's you

I don't think you can make art that's about something, like bringing awareness to some social cause or some such thing. I think you can really only ever work for yourself, everything comes out of you and is about you no matter what you say about it. It's about your own curiosity, confusion and doubt. No matter what you say, and how cleverly you justify and mask what you do, its about you... it's pretty selfish... and that's okay -i think. I think it's probably better to accept that than to pretend it's about something else. It's you that's figuring this out for yourself.
