a short little narrative
So it actually was not until all hope was lost, when nothing seemed worth doing, when every book in Stanley's library was read, their spines creased and the pages bent on the corners that something strange, something new appeared through the front foyer window. 'It couldn't be', Stanley thought -though it certainly looked like: a really big leg in cadmium yellow pants just about grazed the window sill.
And just like that they were out the front door, running after... whatever or whoever it was that walked so casually by their front foyer window. Indeed it was a big yellow leg (and not just a figment of his imagination) that passed by his window; a big yellow leg, belonging to a very big bearded man who was walking in a very slow stride. Our two friends hand to run to catch up to him because although he was walking very slowly, he was moving very fast.
"Hey!" Stanley called out, "wait".
Stanley's heart skipped a beat the moment the big bearded man stopped dead in his tracks and began to turn around. 'What have I done!' Stanley thought. It's not everyday day you run out of your house in your bear feet after a complete stranger, let alone a stranger that's at least five times your own height. Stanley wanted to run, or jump into the bushes and hide until he saw the man's bright smiling face.
"Well hello there little one" he said as he let out a hardy laugh.
and two pencil drawings...
